Nick Bolton Earns National Respect as Chiefs Star Continues to Build His Legacy

Nick Bolton’s 2026 offseason just keeps getting better.

Fresh off signing a three-year, $45 million extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, Bolton has now received another major honor. The former Missouri standout has officially been named to the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026, cementing his legacy at the school where he first became a star.

Bolton will enter the Hall of Fame alongside former Tigers quarterback Drew Lock, marking another milestone in an already remarkable football journey.

Reflecting on the recognition, Bolton said that Columbia and Kansas City have always felt like home, thanking everyone who helped shape his career along the way.

His success isn’t being recognized only in college football.

In ESPN’s annual rankings—compiled from the opinions of more than 70 NFL executives, coaches, and scouts—Bolton was ranked as the No. 8 off-ball linebacker heading into the 2026 season.

Evaluators praised his consistency, leadership, and production, pointing out that he recorded 10 or more tackles for loss for the second straight season, even during what many considered a challenging year for the Chiefs’ defense.

Some league evaluators even made light comparisons to 49ers All-Pro Fred Warner, highlighting Bolton’s ability to command the defense, communicate before the snap, and consistently put teammates in the right position.

Under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Bolton also showcased his versatility by lining up at multiple positions, including snaps at slot cornerback and safety, demonstrating why he’s become one of the NFL’s most trusted defensive leaders.

No one is claiming Bolton has already reached Fred Warner’s level. Warner remains the gold standard at the position.

But when NFL executives begin mentioning your name in the same conversation as one of the league’s elite linebackers, it’s a clear sign that your reputation continues to grow.

For Chiefs Kingdom, that’s exactly the kind of recognition they hoped to see after the franchise committed $45 million to keeping Nick Bolton in Kansas City.
