No — Taylor Swift did not work out wearing a $22,500 Cartier necklace.
Earlier this week, social media was buzzing after a scene from the pop star’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour documentary trailer appeared to show her exercising in expensive jewellery.
“The fact she wears her $22.5k Cartier necklace when she works out? She’s afraid of nothing,”
one fan wrote on X, earning over 1 million views, more than 1,000 reposts and 44,000 likes.
But there’s just one catch — the necklace wasn’t Cartier at all. The statement piece is actually by Ben-Amun and retails for around $320.
The necklace is one of several ancient coin-inspired pieces Swift owns. According to Spencer Miller of Miller Ancients, who spoke to Page Six Style earlier this year, the design features “a modern imitation silver denarius of the Roman emperor Hadrian,” who ruled from 117 to 138 AD.
“Hadrian was a widely respected and competent emperor who fashioned himself as a great classical philosopher and traveled widely throughout the empire,” Miller explained.
As for why Swift kept it on during rehearsals? It may have been practical. Many of her Eras Tour outfits feature jewellery of similar size and weight, so wearing it while training likely helped ensure the accessories wouldn’t interfere with her movements on stage.
On top of that, Swift made headlines again for something far more meaningful.
The singer donated $100,000 to a young girl named Lilah who is battling brain cancer.
Lilah’s story was shared on Instagram, where her support page revealed she dreamed of Swift being “her best friend.” Inspired by the Eras Tour friendship bracelet trend, another young cancer patient began making and selling beaded bracelets to raise funds for Lilah’s medical bills.
Swift’s donation appeared as the top contribution on Lilah’s GoFundMe page, along with a heartfelt message:
“Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.”
Once fans noticed the donation, they began contributing in their own way — many choosing to give $13, Swift’s famously lucky number.
The page was soon flooded with $13 donations from people inspired by the singer’s generosity.
This is far from the first time Swift has quietly supported those in need. She’s previously donated $250,000 to Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City and even visited children in hospital — all without seeking attention online.
Her kindness continues to make as many headlines as her music.
“Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.”
