Coronation Street fans will be heartbroken tonight as the show hints that Theo Silverton could escape justice following his abuse of Todd Grimshaw.
As Sarah Platt takes matters into her own hands to gather evidence, she makes a mistake which threatens to work in the villain’s favour.
Sadly, they don’t yet have the damning video footage from last year, which captured one of Theo’s biggest outbursts at home after Todd planted hidden cameras.
In tonight’s episode, the local residents are horrified to discover that Theo is likely to be released on bail despite his brutal attack on Todd.
Sarah attempts to take control of the situation by sneaking into Theo’s work van to find some evidence. She stumbles across a tablet computer but is soon interrupted by Theo, who’s a free man again.
When Sarah reports back to her partner Kit Green, he rebukes her for potentially destroying Todd’s chances of getting justice.
“You jeopardised the case. What is it with you breaking into vans?” Kit asks. “Even if you’d shown up with evidence saying you’d got it from his van, Theo’s lawyer would get it thrown out like that.
Later, Sarah goes to see Todd in hospital and is forced to break the bad news about what she’s done. While fellow visitor George Shuttleworth is livid over Sarah’s actions, Todd seems resigned to the fact that Theo will never be punished.
“It’s okay – I knew he’d get away with it,” Todd says. “He always does.
“Theo won’t stop. He won’t stop until he’s broken me completely.”
Will Todd’s worst fears be realised? Or could there be a breakthrough in the case against Theo?
