Jennifer Lopez has finally broken her silence on the rumors that she ended her engagement to Alex Rodriguez after he allegedly sent direct messages to Madison LeCroy, a star of the reality TV show Southern Charm.
During a new episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday night, host Andy Cohen brought up the long-standing gossip, saying:
“The Bravoverse will kill me if I do not ask this next question. It came up at a ‘Southern Charm’ reunion a few years ago… that your ex A-Rod was DMing one of the cast members.”
The question referred to the widely circulated speculation in 2021 that Rodriguez had privately messaged LeCroy — something that many believed played a part in the couple’s breakup.
Lopez, 56, laughed lightly before responding carefully:
“You know, I really have nothing to say about my personal life anymore. I feel like I’m done with that.”
Her answer drew cheers and applause from the audience, with the singer playfully responding, “Yes! Support!”
Lopez and Rodriguez began dating in 2017. A source at the time told Page Six that they were “really into each other because they have so much in common.” The couple quickly became a staple of red-carpet events and family outings, blending their children from previous relationships.
Two years later, in March 2019, the pair got engaged. Their wedding plans were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they still seemed close and committed.
However, in early 2021, Danni Baird, another Southern Charm cast member, claimed that LeCroy had FaceTimed with Rodriguez. Around the same time, LeCroy admitted during the Season 7 reunion that she had exchanged messages with an unnamed famous baseball player but insisted she never met him in person.
An insider close to Rodriguez told New York Post:
Despite those claims, by March 2021, Lopez and Rodriguez officially called off their engagement. Sources told Page Six that the Madison LeCroy situation contributed to the split.
Their breakup made global headlines, and while Rodriguez never confirmed the rumors, the situation cast a shadow over the end of their four-year relationship. Lopez has since moved on, keeping her personal life more private — something she reinforced during this candid interview.
