Coronation Street‘s Dylan Wilson and Betsy Swain will find themselves going head-to-head in upcoming scenes ahead of their big storyline, which will kick off this summer. In scenes set to air next Monday (25 May), the couple will both be given a trial shift at Speed Daal by Leanne Battersby.
However, it soon becomes apparent in the scenes — which potentially mark the start of the soap exploring their relationship again — that there’s only one job vacancy and they’ll need to be compete against each other for the role.
Which one of them will land the job? And how will their competition affect their relationship?
“You’ve got to feel for Dylan and Betsy – this challenge has the potential to ruin the chemistry between them,” our Weatherfield source explains.
“Leanne isn’t intending to cause any trouble, but with only one space available, she wants to make sure that she gets the best candidate and won’t shy away from putting the teens through their paces.”
Specific details about Dylan and Betsy’s storyline haven’t been revealed yet, except that it will be an issue-led, coming-of-age storyline and that Lisa will be involved.
“It’s going to be quite a big 2026,” Dylan actor Liam McCheyne previously told Inside Soap. “I’ve got a nice storyline to get my teeth stuck into, which is great.
“It’ll be quite a lot of work with Sydney [Martin, who plays Betsy]. It’s very coming of age. It’s a subject storyline, which is obviously Corrie‘s speciality – it’s one thing the show is amazing at. So I’m very excited for that.”
“Dylan and Betsy have been through a lot together,” Sydney Martin said said last month. “There’s beautiful moments to come. They’re polar opposites; she’s this ticking time bomb that could go off at any time, and he’s quite grounded and sweet.
“That can create some quite funny scenes, because there’s that natural comedic element of them being so different, but also some beautiful ones. I’m also excited for Liam to get his chance to shine,” she added.
