THE ULTIMATE WEATHERFIELD SHOWDOWN?! LEANNE’S NEW BAD BOY SPARKS A BRUTAL WAR ON THE COBBLES!

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has teased where Leanne Battersby’s relationship with newcomer Idris Nazir could go. After an explosive entrance on the cobbles, Idris wasted no time in setting his sights on unlucky-in-love Leanne.

The duo had immediate chemistry, leading to a new love interest for the fan-favourite character that could have sparks in more ways than one.

During an interview on This Morning, actors Jane and Junade Khan opened up about Leanne and Idris’ unexpected relationship and where it could be heading next.

When the hosts pleaded for this to finally be Leanne’s happily ever after, Jane teased that her relationship with Idris could collide with her ex Nick Tilsley and that viewers might see “restaurant wars” develop.

“She’s had quite a miserable life, shall we say, so I’m quite enjoying the fact that Leanne’s kind of smiling a little bit more at the moment,” she said.

“She’s doing some fun things, and there’s loads coming up. Just because her and Nick have split up doesn’t mean that they won’t work together.

“So our characters are going to cross paths, but maybe not in the usual way. There might be a little bit of fighting and a little bit of mind games here and there in the future. But we’re all looking forward to what they’ve got coming up.”

Jane said: “We’re potentially working together in Speed Daal, and we’ve got Toyah [Battersby] and Nick in the Bistro. So there’s a potential for a bit of restaurant wars, maybe.”

When asked what viewers need to know about Idris, the man who “swept Leanne off her feet”, Jane said: “I think it’s fair to say that he’s come in with a bit of a bang, and he’s kind of got straight in there.

“Leanne’s historically kind of been quite well known for lots of relationships, and she sort of wastes no time getting her hooks on the new guy, even though he did actually pursue her.”

She continued: “She’s having a great time. I think what we’re kind of learning is that he’s a bit of a lovable rogue, isn’t he? He’s got a bit of an edge to him.

“I think because Leanne’s a bit edgy herself and a bit feisty, she quite likes that, and she’s quite drawn to that kind of edginess that he’s carrying around the street.”
