Teenage girl ‘raped by two men’ in UK town before three people came to help

A teenage girl has allegedly been raped by two men in a UK town. Thames Valley Police (TVP) has launched an appeal to trace three people who helped the youngster after the ordeal in Reading, Berkshire, on Saturday (November 15).

The force said two men approached the girl and tried to start a conversation with her as she walked on Oxford Road just after 10pm on Saturday. The two suspects and the youngster walked to Prince of Wales Avenue, where she was raped by the pair, according to police.

Detectives described the two men as white, bald, of slim build and clean shaven.

Thames Valley Police has urged three people to get in contact with them to help the investigation.

Detective Inspector Sukhveer Sokhi said in a statement that the rape would cause concern in the community.

He added: “I can reassure local residents that Thames Valley Police is conducting a thorough investigation.

“I am appealing to three Good Samaritans who helped the victim after the offence to please come forward.”

DI Sokhi said two males who were possibly in their teens intervened and clashed with the suspects in Prince of Wales Avenue at about 10.25pm.

The detective said shortly after the “altercation”, the girl walked into Elm Park Road where a black woman helped her.

Mr Sokhi said: “We are appealing to these three Good Samaritans to come forward, because what you saw and heard will help our investigation.

“If you are the Good Samaritans or know who they are, please contact the force.”

He added any of the three can visit a police station, contact the force via its website or call 101, quoting investigation reference number 43250584676.

DI Sokhi said TVP has officers and staff in the community conducting house to house and CCTV enquiries.

He urged members of the public who have any information or questions to feel free to speak to officers as they carry out their enquiries in the area.
