Tara Reid Taken to Hospital After Distressing Incident at Chicago Hotel

Tara Reid, 50, was rushed to a hospital early Sunday morning, Nov. 23, after being seen on a stretcher at a Chicago-area hotel. Video obtained by TMZ shows paramedics moving the American Pie actress from the hotel lobby to a nearby ambulance, capturing a tense and concerning scene

According to a spokesperson for Rosemont Public Safety, emergency services received a call at 12:39 a.m. from a DoubleTree hotel for “a sick person,” and the patient—Reid—was transported to the hospital.

In footage of the incident, Reid appeared dazed as several individuals helped her into a wheelchair in the lobby. At one point, a brief struggle occurred between two men assisting her. One man in uniform told Reid, “We’re going to take you to your room, okay?” as she looked around, seemingly confused and slurring her words.

Later, three paramedics were seen walking Reid out of the hotel on a stretcher. An onlooker reported to TMZ that before the paramedics arrived, Reid could be heard saying, “You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress.”

A representative for Reid shared a statement:

“Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time. She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks, and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”

However, police have confirmed to PEOPLE that Reid has not yet officially filed a report.

This incident comes after Reid made a rare red carpet appearance in March for the premiere of the Indonesian horror film Pabrik Gula in Los Angeles. She has several projects in the works, including The Dreamer Cinderella, and last appeared onscreen in the 2023 vampire film Bloodthirst

Reid has also been candid about public scrutiny of her appearance. In 2023, she spoke to the Los Angeles Inquisitor about criticism she faced for being “too skinny,” noting:

“If we were overweight then they can’t say anything because that’s bullying. But it’s the same thing if you’re skinny. That’s still bullying too.”
