Hollywood is in shock after legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death inside their Los Angeles home, turning a quiet Brentwood neighborhood into a high-profile crime scene.
Police swarmed the property as the street outside Reiner’s home was shut down. Detectives were seen going in and out of the residence for hours, while neighbors watched in disbelief.
Sources say Reiner’s son, Nick, is being looked at as a person of interest. Nick has previously spoken openly about years of drug addiction and homelessness, revealing in a 2016 interview that he had lived on the streets across multiple states.
“I spent nights on the street. Weeks on the street. It was not fun,” he said at the time.
At the scene, a man identifying himself as Rocco, Reiner’s assistant, approached officers and offered to help them access the home. Meanwhile, familiar faces from Hollywood began to arrive.
According to witnesses, Billy Crystal, Reiner’s longtime friend, was seen at the house and appeared visibly shaken. Larry David was also spotted arriving shortly after the news broke.
During a chaotic press conference outside the home, LAPD Detective Chief Alan Hamilton admitted investigators were still working to obtain a search warrant — six hours after the initial 911 call. No suspect has been arrested so far, and police have not officially confirmed the victims’ identities.
Despite that, tributes poured in quickly.
LA Mayor Karen Bass called the deaths “a devastating loss for our city and our country,” praising Reiner’s lasting impact on American culture and social justice.
California Governor Gavin Newsom echoed the sentiment, calling Reiner “a passionate advocate for children, civil rights, and equality,” adding that his legacy goes far beyond film.
Adding to the eerie scene, Reiner’s home was reportedly decorated for the holidays, sitting behind tall hedges and gates in one of Brentwood’s most exclusive neighborhoods — less than two miles from where Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered in 1994.
As investigators search for answers, one thing is clear: Hollywood just lost one of its giants — and the questions surrounding his death are only growing. 👀🕯️
