Carol Vorderman opens up on fresh health scare after leaving LBC
Carol Vorderman has revealed she has been “very poorly” following a new health scare, nearly a year after stepping down from her Sunday LBC radio show.
The 64-year-old, who left the station in October 2024 citing an undisclosed health issue, told OK! that this year has been “a bit hellish health-wise.”
“I’ve been very poorly, not related to the burnout but something entirely different,” she explained. “I’m on the right medications now, but it’s only in the last month or so that I feel I’ve got my mojo back. So watch out, world!”
The former Countdown star has been spending time with friends and travelling to help lift her spirits. “I’ve had lots of mini-breaks and holidays with friends — gay friends, female friends I’ve had for 50 years, or some I’ve known for 10,” she said. “I’ve been back to horse racing, travelled to the States, to France, to everywhere, actually! Going back and seeing old friends has been wonderful.”
Last year, Carol took to Instagram to announce she was leaving LBC to prioritise her health. She explained at the time: “After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over 2 weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital.”
She reassured fans there was nothing sinister, adding: “Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.”
Reflecting on the experience, Carol said it was a wake-up call to slow down. “After a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I’ve decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now. It pains me to have to do it, but I’ve decided not to carry on with my Sunday show.”
Despite stepping back, she promised to remain part of the LBC family and continue “making a lot of mischief and calling out corruption and wrongdoing.”
Carol was spotted at Ascot Champions Day, looking radiant in a royal blue blazer and trousers with a sky blue coat draped over her shoulders. She was seen enjoying the races and reading the event programme, proving she is embracing life despite her recent health challenges. The broadcaster is also gearing up to host the Pride of Britain Awards next week.
