Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan has let loose against Chris Packham after the BBC star launched into a tirade against Clarkson’s Farm during an appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox.
The wildlife presenter took aim at what he perceives as the programme’s misleading depiction of agricultural life.
The Countryfile star was watching the popular Amazon series alongside his step-daughter, Megan McCubbin, when he delivered his scathing assessment of the show’s opening sequence.
Mr Packham turned to Ms McCubbin and complained: “Already, right, that’s not what a farm looks like.
“Most farms are horrible monocultures, which have been sprayed with deadly chemicals time and time again.
“The ground is pumped full of fertiliser, and loads of the animals are indoors in crates, being crushed and kept in the dark.
“That’s an idealistic view of a farm, and it puts the wrong idea in people’s minds. And that’s only the titles!”
The outburst sparked debate among viewers, and has now caught the attention of Ms Cowan, who took to TikTok to rubbish his outburst.
The Clarkson’s Farm star shared a clip of Mr Packham’s complaints and captioned it: “The BBC’s impartial presenter…”
Not done there, Ms Cowan accompanied her TikTok with the statement: “Chris Packham. Maybe before throwing shade at all farmers, research your facts. What world are you living in?”
Later in the TikTok clip, Ms Cowan rubbed salt further into the wound of Mr Packham as she shared footage from her farm in Derbyshire.
With a wide range of animals on the picturesque farm, Ms Cowan added: “Can we all show our horrible monoculture farm please???”
Ms Cowan wasn’t alone. Within moments of sharing her TikTok post, several of her followers rushed to show their support.
“He has never been on a farm; he has no idea what he’s talking about,” one social media user fumed.
“I’m so glad you are calling this out, Harriet,” a second added, while a third raged: “Chris Packham lost it a while ago, to be fair.”
However, some did see where Mr Packham was coming from. One TikTok user argued: “He is absolutely correct when it comes to corporate owned farms that the government apparently prefers over family owned, diversified farms.” (sic)
The Celebrity Gogglebox clash represents the latest chapter in a long history of public disagreements between Mr Packham and Mr Clarkson.
For instance, in November 2023, the pair engaged in a rather unbecoming spat when Clarkson expressed his disdain for Planet Earth III, complaining that Sir David Attenborough’s programme had become overly focused on climate change rather than wildlife itself.
Mr Packham responded furiously on social media, accusing Mr Clarkson of attacking “the world’s greatest broadcaster and the man who has done more than anyone to protect life on earth.” He concluded his tirade by branding the former Top Gear presenter a “massive c**kchafer.”
In another 2025 incident, Mr Clarkson found himself ridiculing Winterwatch and dismissing Mr Packham’s environmental activism, claiming the naturalist failed to comprehend “the real world.”
Despite their numerous public confrontations, Mr Packham recently revealed that relations between the pair may be thawing.
Speaking to The Telegraph this year, the 64-year-old disclosed that perceptions of their rivalry are somewhat exaggerated. “Everybody expects me to hate Jeremy,” he explained. “But we worked together, and he was extraordinarily hospitable.”
Mr Packham acknowledged that both men employ similar tactics in public discourse, with Mr Clarkson occasionally seeking “to antagonise a situation to promote a conversation.”
The naturalist also suggested that the Clarkson’s Farm presenter has been gradually shifting his position on certain countryside matters.
“In recent times, we’ve seen him swinging more in my direction,” Mr Packham observed.
He specifically commended the remarks Mr Clarkson made last August, criticising the Government’s badger culling programme as ineffective.
“For him to have said that is great,” Mr Packham noted, describing the comment as “very valid” coming from a working farmer.
