A viral video out of Minnesota is sparking major outrage, raising serious questions about millions of taxpayer dollars going to a supposedly “empty” daycare center.
The clip, posted by independent journalist Nick Shirley, shows the Quality Learning Center in Minneapolis with a misspelled sign (“Quality Learing Center”) and almost no children inside. Shirley highlighted that the center reportedly received up to $4 million from state child care assistance programs, with little clarity on what services were actually provided.
The video went viral fast, racking up over 65 million views in less than two days, and drew sharp criticism from politicians. Gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth and Congressman Tom Emmer called for full transparency and a thorough investigation.
“Four million dollars of hard-earned tax money going to a center that can’t even spell ‘learning’ correctly. Who is accountable?” Emmer wrote on X.
Lawmakers and the public are now questioning other nonprofit programs in Minnesota, especially after reports that some programs received millions but failed to deliver services, from meals for children to support for the homeless.
Governor Walz has not yet issued an official response, and neither Shirley nor the daycare center has commented.
The story continues to generate attention and debate online, with calls for accountability and transparency in the use of taxpayer funds.
