Her family confirmed the heartbreaking news in an Instagram statement shared on Friday, one day after her passing.
“With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening,” the statement read. “Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on ‘Big Brother,’ where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike.”
The family remembered Lee as someone who “brought joy into the lives of so many” and who formed “genuine connections on and off screen.” They also expressed “deepest gratitude” to everyone who had offered prayers, love, and support in recent days, and requested privacy as they mourn “this tremendous loss.”
“Mickey’s light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten,” the message concluded.
Earlier in the week, news emerged that Lee had been hospitalized after experiencing multiple cardiac arrests. A GoFundMe page created to support her medical needs said she was in “critical but stable condition” following the sudden health emergency, and described the road ahead as “long and challenging.”
By Friday, the fundraiser had collected $31,000 of its $40,000 goal, which was intended to help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, as well as specialized care, recovery support, and travel and lodging for her family.
Many of Lee’s fellow Big Brother alumni had sent messages of encouragement during her hospitalization. “Praying for an easy and smooth recovery,” Jimmy Heagerty commented, while Rachel Reilly wrote, “Prayers, Mickey — thinking about you and your family.”
Lee most recently appeared in Season 27 of Big Brother, which aired from July through September. She was evicted in Week 8, but left the show with trademark optimism.
“I prefer it this way,” she told Gold Derby at the time. “I get to go out and live my life a little bit before coming back for the finale.”
Her family, friends, and fans are now remembering her for that same spirit — bright, resilient, and unforgettable.
