1. Carl resorts to desperate measures

Kevin is bemused to receive a letter from another local garage, which asks him to give Carl a reference. He warns Carl that, after their turbulent history in recent months, there’s no chance of him complying with the request.

As Carl wonders how he’ll make ends meet, he’s intrigued when his dodgy contact Fiona offers him some more illegal work.

2. Kevin makes a shocking discovery

Kevin watches a video of Ruby on Tyrone’s phone.

Afterwards, he stumbles across the damning video that shows Carl sabotaging the brakes on his car. Furious that Carl would stoop so low, he rushes over to confront him.

3. Debbie enjoys a blissful break

Ronnie arranges a surprise for Debbie, Sally, Glenda and Christina, who have been discussing whether to take a holiday together.

The ladies end up enjoying some quality time at the hotel. Debbie tries to keep in touch with Ronnie, while Christina also receives a call, but Glenda puts her foot down and insists they should switch off their phones and focus on having a great time.

But with chaos for the Websters about to unfold, is it the right time for Debbie to switch off?

4. Carl pulls out a gun

Kevin and Carl’s latest dispute culminates in a tense showdown at the garage. Tyrone and Ronnie rush over to join them – and Kevin is shocked that they’ve both known about the brakes incident for weeks.

Ronnie suggests that it’s time for all of them to bury the hatchet for Debbie’s sake, but Kevin scoffs at the idea and grabs a wrench. As violence seems inevitable, Carl ups the ante by pulling out a gun that Fiona had supplied him with.

5. Disaster strikes at the garage

Ronnie still hopes to play peacemaker between the warring Websters, but Kevin is filled with fury as he grabs the gun. Convinced that it’s fake, he boldly points it at Carl.

A tussle follows for possession of the gun, which leads to the weapon being fired. Will the bullet hit anyone?

6. Brody, Dylan and Betsy are targeted

Brody, Dylan and Betsy head to the Rovers for drinks, but Sean points out that Brody is still underage and refuses to serve him.

The teens take cans to the precinct instead, but they soon find themselves surrounded by a group of rough lads who demand to have the cans for themselves.

Brave Brody takes control of the situation, ordering Dylan and Betsy to scarper while he lets the lads chase him in the opposite direction.

7. Five saviours help out Brody

While running away from his assailants, Brody unexpectedly crosses paths with Debbie, Sally, Bernie, Glenda and Christina. They manage to overpower the thugs and scare them off.

Back at the pub, Dev and Tim are concerned that they haven’t heard anything from their wives, who still have their phones switched off. Will Brody step in and explain that Debbie and her friends are all fine?

8. Fiona piles pressure on Carl

In the aftermath of the incident, Fiona pops up at the hotel and issues Carl with a stern warning – he has just one week to do exactly what she says, or his life won’t be worth living.

Debbie overhears part of the conversation and confronts Carl, demanding to know exactly what’s going on.

9. Debbie freaks out at work

Debbie suffers frightening nightmares following the incident with the gun at the garage. She then argues with Tracy over a flower order, with Tracy spitefully blaming Debbie’s dementia for the confusion.

As Debbie’s stress gets the better of her, she accidentally causes trouble for a couple who have arranged a party at the hotel to reveal the sex of their baby. Debbie lets slip that the child is a boy as she read it on the balloon order, which spoils the surprise.

Things get worse when the balloon suddenly pops and Debbie freaks out, mistaking it for gunfire.

10. Nick looks for someone to blame

At the hospital, Nick awaits news on Sam following the schoolboy’s distressing breakdown. He also blames Ben and Eva for what’s happened, claiming that Sam’s stress has been caused by the pressure of knowing he’ll have to testify at Megan’s trial.

As they face the possibility of not having Sam’s testimony, Eva reassures Ben that they don’t need him as Will can cope with the court case alone.

11. Ben and Nick bond – but not for long

Ben and Nick find common ground as they acknowledge that they’ve both faced troubles parenting their sons in recent months.

However, when Nick discovers just how much Sam has been suffering, he reverts to his original stance and lashes out at Ben once more. He claims that Ben should have spotted Megan’s true colours much sooner, which would have spared Sam unnecessary suffering.

12. Sam hopes to see a friendly face

After his ordeal, Sam tells his family that he’d like to see Roy.

Will this provide the support that he needs? Or is it a bad idea after the sinister “Roy” visions he’s been experiencing?

13. Maria voices her suspicions

Maria is livid as she spots Gary and Sarah sharing a hug. The former couple clearly have something to hide, as Gary urges Sarah to delete all of their messages to and from each other.

Later, Maria turns to Fiz for support, explaining that she’s now convinced Gary and Sarah are having an affair.

14. Maria’s theories spark chaos

Todd gets wind of Maria’s concerns and steps in to warn Sarah that she’s worried about a potential affair.

Later, Maria bites the bullet by telling Gary that they need to talk things through. Gary delays the inevitable by suggesting that they should meet for a curry that evening.

15. Gary’s gesture makes matters worse

Gary announces that he’s treating the whole family to a surprise holiday. While Izzy, Jake and Liam all celebrate, Maria reckons it’s a sign of a guilty conscience.

Maria turns to Izzy afterwards, further spreading her theory that Gary is being unfaithful.

16. Kit plans a proposal

Kit speaks to Bethany and reveals that he’s considering popping the question to Sarah.

The timing doesn’t seem great with everything else going on, although Kit buys an engagement ring. He’s also encouraged when Sarah’s son Harry reveals how much he likes having him around.

17. Betsy could be on the move

Betsy tells Lauren that she has been offered a position at the London College of Fashion, but is worried about leaving Dylan behind. She also fears Lisa’s reaction, so hasn’t told her yet.

When Betsy finally finds the right moment to update her family, Carla is delighted for her – but Lisa may not be so enthusiastic…
