Coronation Street fans have predicted that a new arrival to Weatherfield may be looming as Maggie Driscoll was seen coming clean to her son, Ben, about his father’s death. But was she telling the whole truth?

Those who follow the ITV soap have recently seen Maggie survive being the victim of a murder that has rocked the cobbles, after she was among those at risk of being bumped off, alongside Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh, and Theo Silverton, who was the one revealed to have been murdered.

But Maggie was seen at risk after she was confronted by Will Driscoll’s mum, Melanie, outside the Rovers Return pub, which she was revealed to be the new landlady of back in October after Ben borrowed money from her to purchase the beloved boozer for his partner, Eva Price.

Melanie made it clear she wants Will to move to Scotland with her following the grooming ordeal with Megan, but Maggie was determined as ever to keep her family together. However, Melanie turned the tables and began blackmailing Maggie, knowing she was the one responsible for her husband’s death after flashback scenes aired last year revealed she pushed him down the stairs, witnessed by her young son, Finlay.

With Maggie left to deal with what Melanie had warned, Megan, who had already been kidnapped and confronted by Eva Price, Leanne Battersby and Toyah Habeeb, arrived and revealed she had heard everything. Maggie tried to deny what she had heard; however, Megan goaded her and revealed she’d recorded her conversation with Melanie.

Later, Maggie headed to the precinct to confront Megan and insisted that the recording be deleted. She said that she knew that Megan had lied about losing her baby and that she’d actually had an abortion. Their row ended up being interrupted by Will, and after Megan managed to leave unharmed, Maggie ended up suffering a heart attack.

But just as she thought her deadly secret was behind her, Melanie pushed a sick Maggie once again to convince Ben to let Will leave with her to Scotland. When that didn’t pan out, as the teen was actually planning to run away with Megan before he was convinced to tell the police the truth, Maggie appeared nervous about Melanie’s next move.

However, during Thursday’s (May 14) visit to the cobbles, Maggie was seen getting a call from Megan, telling her that if she didn’t help her with her release, having been arrested and charged for grooming Will, she would tear her family apart by telling them about what happened with Alan.

Refusing to let Megan get away with her crimes, Maggie was seen sitting Ben down and telling him what happened with his dad all those years ago, admitting she didn’t find him at the bottom of the stairs, that there was a tussle, but fell short of admitting she was the one who pushed him to his death.

It’s now left Corrie fans thinking that a new arrival could be on the cards, which could cause even more bother for Maggie and Ben’s already blistered relationship.
