Kaleb Cooper breaks silence on Jeremy Clarkson cancer diagnosis after being left in tears at health news

Kaleb Cooper has spoken out following the revelation that his close friend and Clarkson’s Farm co-star Jeremy Clarkson is battling aggressive prostate cancer.

Mr Cooper was involved in the Clarkson’s Farm scene in which Mr Clarkson made the revelation, reacting tearfully to the bombshell.

On the day the diagnosis was revealed in the final two episodes of season five of Clarkson’s Farm, the 27-year-old farm manager provided a reassuring update.

“He is good. The spirits are high, which is good,” Mr Cooper said.

The young farmer emphasised the importance of standing by those facing serious illness, describing Clarkson as his “best mate.”

“If anything like this happens to any of your friends and you just said to my best mate, you’ve gotta be supported through that whole journey,” he explained.

“And that’s where I’ve been, I’ve been right by his side and his spirits are really good, so thank you,” he said to the Daily Mail.

Mr Cooper was speaking while promoting Hawkstone, the beer and cider brand founded by Mr Clarkson.

Mr Cooper went on to praise the former Top Gear host’s mental fortitude in facing the disease.

“He’s strong-minded, he’s got a strong mind on him, which is good,” he said.

The farmer also delivered a powerful message about the significance of catching health problems early, urging people not to let hectic schedules prevent them from seeking medical attention.

“And the message about catching anything early is quite important. That’s the main thing, but you’ve gotta keep checking, you know what I mean,” Mr Cooper stated.

“It’s all these things, you know, people can sit there and say I’m busy, busy, busy. But actually sometimes you’ve gotta go I’m gonna just have to check and see if I’m OK.”

Mr Clarkson himself acknowledged during the programme that early detection had potentially saved his life, noting that without the routine medical check, this could have been his final harvest.

During a conversation about harvest planning at Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, Mr Clarkson told Mr Cooper and land agent Mr Ireland: “I’ve got cancer.”

The presenter revealed he had discovered the illness following a medical examination in May 2025, describing it as aggressive but caught at a very early stage.

“I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy, and it is cancer, and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early,” he said.

Mr Clarkson subsequently underwent surgery to remove ten per cent of his prostate, the portion containing the cancerous cells.

The series concluded with footage of the broadcaster in a hospital bed, where he revealed treatment had not gone entirely to plan.

“Some of the treatment has gone awry, let’s say. I’ll probably be here for a little while,” he told viewers.

Lisa Hogan, Clarkson’s partner, has since offered fans a comforting glimpse of the presenter’s recovery.

She posted an image to her Instagram Story showing him seated outdoors at the Oxfordshire farm with a telescope, captioned simply “Back at the farm…”

The photograph marked the first indication of Mr Clarkson’s current wellbeing since his diagnosis became public through the Amazon Prime Video series.

It has been a particularly challenging year for the 66-year-old, who also underwent a heart procedure in October 2024 after discovering one artery was completely blocked and another was heading the same way.

Two stents were fitted to improve blood flow to his heart.

Reflecting on the difficult 12 months, Clarkson remarked during the programme: “So we started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer.”
