Coronation Street‘s Nick Tilsley wants someone to blame for Sam Blakeman’s problems next week – and there’s no-one who escapes his anger.
Nick is deeply worried about his teenage son, who has just been admitted to hospital after his loved ones discovered that he was experiencing psychosis.
In next week’s episodes, the blame game begins as Nick wonders how Sam’s issues went undetected for so long. During a visit to the Bistro with Eva Price, a sheepish Ben Driscoll admits that he saw Sam behaving strangely recently but didn’t follow up on it.
Nick then erupts in anger, claiming that Ben kept quiet because he wanted to keep Sam on course to testify at Megan Walsh’s upcoming grooming trial.
In the end, Nick snaps and demands to be left alone. Ben, Eva, David and Sarah reluctantly head off, but Toyah can’t believe it when she realises that Nick means her too!
Ben Price, who plays Nick, recently explained: “It’s been a tricky balance for Nick and for Sam, but I think Nick is aware that he wants Sam to be a young man and get out there. At times, Sam has been quite insular.
“What has worried Nick more is when Sam goes into his shell. Through quite a bit of this, Nick wasn’t really aware of what was happening – it was very personal to Sam, almost. He’s in his own world.”
“Nick has gone from thinking: ‘Oh, I just think it’s teenage angst’ to ‘he’s got psychosis. He’s really not well. He’s got to go to a hospital. He needs professional treatment’. That’s a big leap,” added the actor.
