Ethan may have just become the most suspicious man in Port Charles, and after watching these recent General Hospital scenes, I don’t think that’s an accident.
The moment Ethan learned that Delilah was dead and immediately focused on baby Phoebe, it felt like the writers wanted viewers asking one question: is Ethan actually Phoebe’s father?
What makes this mystery so intriguing is that Ethan’s behavior doesn’t match someone who simply knew Delilah casually. When he discovered what happened to her, his reaction carried guilt, grief, and a level of personal responsibility that seemed much deeper than friendship. Then came the biggest red flag of all: he destroyed a photograph linking him to Delilah instead of explaining their connection.
People don’t usually burn evidence when they have nothing to hide.
That’s why Nathan Dean’s recent comments caught my attention. While he stopped short of confirming anything, he described Ethan’s connection to Delilah as “very complicated” and admitted that Ethan doesn’t want people digging too deeply into how they became involved or why they ended up in Port Charles. At the same time, he made it clear that Ethan is determined to protect Phoebe and feels responsible for Delilah’s death.
That combination raises all kinds of questions.
If Ethan isn’t Phoebe’s father, why does he seem so emotionally invested in her future? Why is he willing to risk exposing himself to stay close to the baby? And why does he appear desperate to keep certain details of his relationship with Delilah buried?
The more I think about it, the more it feels like General Hospital is deliberately dropping clues without revealing the entire picture. Even Nathan Dean seemed to enjoy teasing fans when asked directly whether Ethan is Phoebe’s father, responding with a grin and a wink that suggested there may be much more to the story than viewers currently know.
Another detail that stands out is Ethan’s sudden decision to work for Sonny almost immediately after arriving in Port Charles. At first, that seemed random. Now, it feels much more strategic. If Ethan believed Delilah and Phoebe were connected to a dangerous situation, aligning himself with one of the most powerful and protected figures in town would make a lot of sense. Ethan may not have come to Port Charles looking for a job. He may have come looking for protection.
And if that’s true, Phoebe could be at the center of everything.
Of course, General Hospital loves a good misdirection. The writers know fans immediately suspect Ethan is the father, which makes me wonder whether the truth could be even more complicated. Maybe Ethan isn’t Phoebe’s father at all. Maybe he’s her godfather, her protector, or someone who made a promise to Delilah before she died. But if that’s the case, why go to such lengths to hide the truth?
For now, one thing seems certain: Ethan knows far more than he’s saying, and Delilah’s death is only the beginning of a much larger mystery.
