Coronation Street fans have expressed their concerns for Brody and Dylan as newcomer Idris Nazir strolled onto the cobbles.

It was previously announced that the cousin of long-standing character, Alya Nazir, played by Sair Khan, would be making quite the impression when Idris Nazir arrives in the ITV soap, played by Junade Khan, while it was also revealed their characters will be set to catch the eye of a local female.

Corrie producer Kate Brooks teased his arrival, saying: “He is very, very charming, the charm oozes out of every pore of this guy. He’s a savvy kind of business guy, he’s got a bit of a ruthless streak, he is prepared to get his hands slightly dirty, and he can charm the birds from the trees.”

Since March 2025, Alya has been the only family member left on the Weatherfield cobbles after the departure of her grandmother, Yasmeen.

Now, Idris’ arrival is set to rock some boats, with Kate also confirmed that he’s a new love interest for Leanne. She continued: “The attraction is instantaneous. It kind of gives Leanne a new lease of life, somewhat. She’s been harbouring a deep-rooted resentment towards Toyah and Nick, because that’s the life she had.

“And this guy comes along, he’s got it all, he makes her laugh. He’s funny, he’s a handsome chap, and he ruffles a lot of feathers, but he’s not without an edge.

“He’s not soft, and he’s certainly no pushover. He butts heads with some of our more alpha kind of characters quite early on. We’re really excited about Idris. He brilliant.”

On Tuesday (May 26), Idris stepped foot onto the cobbles for the first time. He made quite the impression as he strolled into Speed Daal and forced two inappropriate customers to pay up, supporting Leanne and Brody who were struggling to get through to them.

It was then that Alya rushed over to give her cousin a hug. However, later on Brody caught Idris holding someone up to the wall demanding his money. With Brody taking quite the shine to the newcomer, some viewers are worried about his future already.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @maerlacqz0 wrote: “I could see Dylan maybe getting mixed up with Idris. Maybe wanting to make more money and getting involved with idris’ schemes.”

@heyitscallisto added: “I don’t think the Speed Daal scenes were pointless at all. They provided a nice break from the darker moments, and Idris will be involved with Leanne at some point. It seems Brody will get swept into Idris’ world. Maybe Dylan will get caught up in it too.”

Another viewer, @Bo88797665 penned: “Sally making the comment that Brody has become a well rounded young man, feels like such a foreshadowing that Idris will be getting Brody into trouble and some type of criminal issues.”

Junade is no stranger to Corrie, having played a role in the ITV soap before. He shared: “I joined Corrie for a very short stint as a love interest for Rosie Webster. She’d been kidnapped by John Stape, and we met in a nightclub.

“My character was called Saj, though Helen Flanagan called me ‘Sarge’, which was funny! I remember being in the Rovers with Sally [Metcalfe], Gail [Platt] and Carla [Connor-Swain]. Coming back now, I saw Alison King and said, ‘I’ve seen you before!’ It’s a bit surreal, but it feels right to be back.”
