Coronation Street continues to keep us guessing over Theo Silverton’s murder tonight, with highly suspicious behaviour from Summer Spellman and Gary Windass.
As fellow suspect George Shuttleworth fiercely protests his innocence during a police interview, attention shifts to how Summer and Gary both have secrets to hide.
Wednesday’s episode sees Summer break down in tears in Victoria Gardens as George continues to be held for questioning.
Gary and Maria Connor rush over to comfort her when they see how upset she is. Summer explains that she’s “worried sick” about George as he’s been kept in overnight following his arrest, with no end to his ordeal in sight.
Later, when George is finally released without charge for the time being, Summer starts to regret showing how distraught she was. Were her tears a sign of a guilty conscience, as she knew the police should be questioning her instead?
Seeking out Gary at the builder’s yard, Summer explains: “Would you mind keeping it between you and Maria, you know, that I was upset? I just don’t want anyone to know, or worry.”
Once Gary agrees to keep quiet and Summer leaves, he focuses on covering up his own big secret: deleting the CCTV footage which shows him smashing up Theo’s van on the day of the villain’s death.
Last week, Gary targeted the vehicle as he made it his mission to get Theo out of town. Not stopping there, he texted Theo and warned that he was coming for him.
So, is Gary now covering up evidence because he’s an innocent party who knows how bad this looks? Or is he concealing his involvement in Theo’s murder?
Corrie bosses have put George, Summer and Gary on an official list of suspects who’ll all face police scrutiny in the month ahead.Todd Grimshaw, Danielle Silverton and Christina Boyd are also in the running, with plenty of twists and turns to come…
