Coronation Street fans have shared their opinions on the latest episode of the ITV soap, which saw Carla Connor and Lisa Swain finally tie the knot after months of anticipation and strife in Weatherfield.
The beloved couple, who have affectionately been dubbed ‘Swarla’ by viewers, got their happily-ever-after despite various dramas, though the instalment didn’t come without a twist as a scream was heard late in the night.
While the soap will soon begin its big murder-mystery storyline, several viewers were more than happy to bask in the glow of Weatherfield’s newest married couple, and they were thrilled by how the wedding day turned out for Carla and Lisa.
“History made on Coronation Street! Through every obstacle, every doubt, every moment that tried to pull them apart… they still chose each other. And now here they are stronger, happier & married. Carla & Lisa Connor-Swain forever,” wrote one fan on X.
A second viewer echoed this sentiment as they called the episode “magic”, adding: “A wonderful episode to celebrate Swarla’s wedding before murder week. Everyone chipping in and having fun was so lovely to see.”
“The wedding was so unbelievably perfect for them. All Carla and Lisa needed was each other, the people who mean the most to them, small and intimate. And not only did they get that, but they got celebrated by wider community who love them,” wrote a third.

“It was perfect I loved it. I love the comedy side also the rows they were perfect did make me cry. It was beautifully written,” noted a sixth viewer, while another called it a “love letter” to fans of the soap.
While Carla and Lisa are now newlyweds, their honeymoon will be short-lived as a new storyline takes place. Betsy, Lisa’s daughter, discovers a dead body, though it hasn’t yet been revealed who the deceased individual is.
All we know is that Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh, Jodie Ramsey, Carl Webster and Theo Silverton are the figures in danger of meeting a grisly end, but you’ll have to wait until next week to discover the truth.
