Zoe Saldaña’s journey on Pandora has officially paid off — in a huge way.
After 16 years as fierce Na’vi warrior Neytiri, the actress has reached a historic milestone: she’s now the highest-grossing actor of all time at the global box office. And with Avatar: Fire and Ash still dominating theaters, her numbers are only climbing higher.
According to box office tracker The Numbers, Saldaña’s films have collectively earned more than $15.4 billion worldwide, fueled largely by James Cameron’s Avatar saga — plus blockbuster turns in Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek.
A Record-Breaking Career Built on Blockbusters
Saldaña also holds a rare Hollywood distinction: she has starred in three of the highest-grossing movies in history — Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water and Avengers: Endgame.:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(999x0:1001x2):format(webp)/zoe-saldana-7-121922-4c36c05fefcd4e8db92a5a09cc7832dc.jpg)
With Avatar: Fire and Ash lighting up the box office since its December 2025 release, Saldaña’s reign at the top feels well-earned. The latest installment crossed the $1 billion global mark in just two weeks, cementing Cameron’s franchise as an unstoppable force.
The original Avatar (2009) still holds the crown as the highest-grossing film of all time, pulling in $2.9 billion worldwide.
How Many Avatar Films Has Zoe Saldaña Made?
Saldaña has portrayed Neytiri in all three released films:
- Avatar (2009)
- Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
- Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025)
And she’s not done yet.
In a February 2025 interview with Deadline, Saldaña confirmed she’s officially signed on for Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, extending her time in the franchise to more than two decades.
“It’s a gift to revisit a character that has given me so much,” she said. “And to return to a world that’s been so magical for people all over the globe.”
So… How Much Has She Made from Avatar?
While Saldaña’s exact salary has never been publicly confirmed, industry insiders say her deals evolved significantly as the franchise exploded.
When Saldaña and co-star Sam Worthington signed on for the sequels in 2014, they negotiated new contracts reportedly similar to their original ones — which already included clauses for future installments.
Back in 2007, The Hollywood Reporter noted that both actors agreed to potential sequels before the first film even debuted.
James Cameron famously joked at the time:
“If we make money, I guarantee there will be more. If we don’t, we’ll pretend it never happened.”
Safe to say — it made money.
What’s Next for Zoe Saldaña and Avatar?
Parts of Avatar 4 were already filmed alongside The Way of Water and Fire and Ash, and Saldaña says she’s ready whenever Cameron calls her back to Pandora.
“As long as fans keep connecting to it and wanting more, we’ll keep doing it,” she told Entertainment Tonight in December 2025. “With the support of Disney, of course.”
Avatar 4 is currently slated for December 2029, with Avatar 5 expected to follow in December 2031.
On Jan. 13, Saldaña marked her box office milestone with a heartfelt Instagram post, thanking Cameron for believing in her — and fans for their “unwavering support.”
“It’s an achievement made entirely possible by the extraordinary collaborators and franchises I’ve been lucky enough to be part of,” she wrote.
After 16 years, Neytiri’s legacy — and Saldaña’s — shows no signs of slowing down. 🌌
