Rob and Michele Reiner’s official causes of death have been revealed.
The “Princess Bride” director and his wife died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed, in documents released Wednesday.
The manner of death for both Rob and Michele was listed as homicide.
The news was revealed just hours after Nick made his first appearance in court since his parents’ deaths.
Nick’s lawyer, Alan Jackson, told reporters outside Los Angeles Municipal Court Wednesday that an arraignment has been set for Jan. 7, 2026.
“First of all, and most importantly, this is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family. We all recognize that. Our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family,” Jackson said in part, noting that there are “very complex and serious issues” associated with this case.
“These need to be thoroughly but very carefully dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed. We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward. Not with the rush to judgment, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this system and this process deserves and that the family deserves.”
Page Six previously reported that Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Later that evening, Nick was arrested on charges of murder following the tragic deaths of his parents.
Nick, 32, was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance following a press hearing Tuesday.
“These charges will be two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman told reporters.
“He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife.”
Hochman added, “These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. No decision, at this point, has been made with respect to the death penalty.”
He explained during the presser that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will take the “thoughts and desires of the family into consideration” regarding the death penalty if Nick is convicted.
Sources told The Post that the couple’s bodies were discovered in their Los Angeles mansion by their daughter Romy Reiner.
Stab wounds to their throats, as well as multiple wounds throughout Rob and Michele’s bodies, were discovered.
The beloved “This Is Spinal Tap” director and his wife had allegedly been dead for hours before their daughter discovered their bodies, according to TMZ.
Nick — who has faced a years-long battle with drug addiction — had a massive blow-up with his parents at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party Saturday night, a source told The Post.
“They had had an argument at Conan’s holiday party,” a family friend shared at the time. “Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating.”
Per NBC News, Nick also allegedly interrupted Bill Hader during a private conversation and engaged in erratic behavior during the star-studded bash. A rep for Hader had no comment.
The couple’s other shared children, Romy and Jake, released a statement on the family tragedy on Wednesday.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” the siblings said.
“They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.”
