Mike Tomlin Faces Fan Backlash After Steelers’ Crushing Loss to Bills
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ latest defeat has put head coach Mike Tomlin under intense scrutiny, as fans at Acrisure Stadium openly demanded his firing.
Pittsburgh fell 26-7 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, marking their third loss in four games. The team now sits at a 6-6 record, a sharp decline from their strong 4-1 start to the season.
During the game, frustrated fans chanted “Fire Tomlin,” a sentiment the 19-year veteran head coach addressed after the match.
“I share their frustration tonight,” Tomlin told reporters. “We didn’t do enough. That’s just the reality of it.”
The Steelers initially took a 7-0 lead midway through the second quarter but were quickly overpowered by the Bills, who scored 23 unanswered points and dominated both offensively and defensively. Pittsburgh managed only 166 total yards, while their defense allowed 249 rushing yards—the most at home since the team began playing at Acrisure Stadium.
Sunday’s game appeared to be a tipping point for fans. The Steelers have gone just 6-11 in their last 17 games, and under Tomlin, they have now lost six consecutive playoff games.
Despite the struggles, the team remains in playoff contention, leading the AFC North alongside the Baltimore Ravens, who also hold a 6-6 record. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the helm, Pittsburgh hopes to turn its season around before the postseason.
