Jesse Eisenberg, star of The Social Network and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, shocked fans and hosts alike during an appearance on Today with some incredible news: he’s donating one of his kidneys to a complete stranger in just six weeks!
“Yeah that’s true,” Eisenberg confirmed. “I’m actually donating my kidney. I really am.”
The actor, already known for supporting blood drives and charitable causes, said he got “bitten by the blood donation bug” and was excited to take this altruistic step in mid-December.

Eisenberg explained in another interview that donating a kidney is “essentially risk-free and so needed.” He wants people to realize it’s a “no-brainer” if they have the time and inclination.
Interestingly, Jesse first thought about kidney donation a decade ago, but never heard back from the organization he reached out to — now, he’s finally making it happen.
