Democratic Senator Mark Kelly is urging the Senate to hold a vote on House legislation that would make the full Jeffrey Epstein files public.
At a news conference on Capitol Hill, Kelly said:
“We got a little bit more work ahead of us. But my hope is that Leader John Thune will do the right thing and bring this legislation to the floor of the Senate, and allow a vote.”
He acknowledged that the expected House vote on the bill hasn’t been easy, pointing out that influential figures have worked to keep the full truth from being revealed.
Kelly also criticized delays in swearing in Rep. Adelita Grijalva, calling it a tactic to slow accountability.
“We’re going to need your help on the other side of the Capitol, making sure that Senate leadership doesn’t delay this any further,” he said.
“They need to schedule a vote on this so this can pass into law.”
Rep. Grijalva: House Vote Long Overdue
Grijalva, whose signature was key in forcing a House vote on the bill, called the move “a milestone, not the finish line.”
“There are going to be people trying to frame this as a hoax, a distraction, or a partisan fight. To them, I say: You cannot call it a hoax when real survivors are standing right here,” she said.
She urged the Senate to take action and pass the bill, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability.
