Fans of Good Morning Britain are turning against the current Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. It comes as the Labour leader has given an interview to say that he will be leading his government at the next election – but fans of the ITV show think otherwise, and instead say that he “will be gone”.
Presenters Paul Brand and Susanna Reid went through the day’s headlines as they showed the front page of the Mirror. One of the presenters read out the headline, saying: “Sir Keir Starmer tells the Daily Mirror that he will lead the Labour party into the next general election, but it’s never good when they have to say that, and he vowed to tackle the Cost of Living Crisis to focus on what people really care about, according to him.” Susanna then said that she is “surprised” that he did the interview and based it on the Cost of Living. She said that she thought he would have “come out fighting for his Home Secretary’s asylum plans and done an interview which was focused on that.”

The presenter added that she felt like he had “diverted attention away from the big key issue of the week.”
Regular show guest, Kevin Maguire, also shared his thoughts, saying that the PM is in a “very precarious position”. He added: “Particularly after last week when Downing Street acknowledged that they are under pressure.”
He went on: “The mood has changed in parliament. I spend too much time in parliament and Labour MPs now openly refer to when he has to go, and many of them believe now that voters have made up their mind, fairly or unfairly, and are very negative.
“This is why he is saying he will fight the next election. One, it is not his choice and two, it won’t be his decision.

“But usually Prime Ministers say this well into a second term, meaning after two elections. But he is saying this after only 16 months.”
Fans of Good Morning Britain also shared their thoughts as they took to social media. Posting to X/Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Starmer has given an interview to the Mirror today saying he’ll be leading Labour at the next election. He’ll be gone next year (and whoever succeeds him will carry on with exactly the same policies)”.
Another added: “We need a General Election and for Keir Starmer to go. #gmb.” While a third penned: “Knew #Labour would be bad, but I never, in my wildest dreams, thought they would be THIS bad! #GMB.”
