After 16 years on the run, a Florida sex offender who faked his own suicide has finally been arrested—and his chilling words to cops will send shivers down your spine. 😨

Howard, now 74, went on the lam in 2010 after being convicted on 22 counts of child pornography in Pinellas County, Florida. To escape the law, he staged a suicide by abandoning a rental car near Mauzy Lake, Kentucky—but US Marshals say it was all a deliberate attempt to disappear.

He violated probation, fled to Indiana, and allegedly relied on a “significant number of relatives” to stay off the grid. Detectives finally tracked him to Irvington, where he was arrested stepping out onto the front porch.

And here’s the chilling part: he told agents, “I had hoped to be dead before you caught up with me.” 😱

Howard is now booked in Vanderburgh County Jail and faces extradition to Florida for probation violations and 32 charges of failing to register as a sex offender. In Indiana, he also faces prosecution under the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act, which protects children from sexual exploitation and abuse.

US Marshal William Berger Sr. said:
“You can run, you can hide, but law enforcement never stops hunting those who defy it – justice has a way of catching up to those who run from it.”

After 16 years of hiding, Howard’s nightmare is finally over—and justice is catching up. ⚖️
