Fox News weather anchor Janice Dean has left fans both worried and inspired after revealing she’s taking a break from work—and even social media—to focus on her health. The 55-year-old meteorologist, who has openly battled multiple sclerosis (MS) for nearly two decades, shared an “honest” update on Wednesday, promising: “I’ll be back.”
“I wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a break from work (and social media) for a bit,” Dean wrote, assuring fans she’s okay but needs time to rest and recover.
The longtime Fox personality, who was diagnosed with MS in 2005, described the invisible struggles behind her public smile. “Even though we look okay on the surface—I got my hair and makeup done, I’m smiling on Fox & Friends—inside can be quite a challenge,” she explained, referencing the “invisible illness” that attacks her brain, spine, and central nervous system.
Dean also revealed that a recent trip to Rome with her husband was helping her heal spiritually. “I’ve always been up front and honest about my life, and I felt I owed you an explanation of my absence,” she wrote. “But, I will be back. Grateful to you all for the kind words.”
Multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling autoimmune disease, can cause flare-ups that limit mobility and affect daily life. While there’s no cure, treatments exist to help manage symptoms—a reality Dean has bravely shared with her followers for years.
The senior meteorologist, who has been with Fox News since 2004, is not just a TV personality—she’s also a wife and mom of two navigating a challenging diagnosis while maintaining her career in the public eye.
Fans and colleagues alike have flooded social media with messages of support, eager for Dean’s return to the spotlight. For now, she’s taking the time to rest, recharge, and continue her journey of resilience—and when she returns, her message is clear: she’ll be stronger than ever.
