🚨 BREAKING: Hundreds of VA Doctors Sound the Alarm — “Staff Cuts and New Policies Are Destroying Veterans’ Healthcare!” 🇺🇸🔥

Medical workers treat patients in the Covid-19 ward at the US Department of Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare system campus and medical center in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on January 11, 2022.

A massive internal rebellion is brewing inside the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Over 350 doctors, nurses, and caregivers have sent a powerful warning letter to VA Secretary Doug Collins, the agency’s inspector general, and members of Congress — obtained by CNN — claiming that recent staffing cuts and outsourcing moves are putting veterans’ lives at risk.

💥 “The Lincoln Declaration” — A Plea from Inside the System
Initially signed by 160 medical professionals, the letter quickly swelled to over 350 names — with many signing anonymously out of fear of retaliation.
The signatories warn that the VA’s push to outsource care to private hospitals is gutting the very foundation of the Veterans Health Administration.

“These policies undermine VA’s healthcare system, drain its budget, and endanger the lives of those who served,” the letter states.

One VA physician told CNN bluntly:

“This isn’t reform — it’s abandonment. We’re betraying the very people who defended this country.”

⚠️ “A Silent Crisis” Inside the VA
Doctors say the shift to privatized “community care” threatens to:

  • Close VA hospitals,
  • Overload private clinics unequipped for veterans’ complex needs, and
  • Drain billions from direct veteran healthcare to corporate contracts.

🔥 Dr. Dean Winslow — a retired Air Force colonel and Stanford professor — risked his career by signing publicly.A crowd listens as American punk band Dropkick Murphys performs at the 'Unite for Veterans, Unite for America Rally' on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on June 6, 2025 to support veteran's rights and oppose policies of President Donald Trump.

“The VA has unique expertise in treating veterans,” he said. “The private system is expensive, inefficient, and lacks the understanding of what our vets go through. The VA is worth fighting for.”

In response, VA spokesperson Peter Kasperowicz defended the administration’s record, claiming that veterans are receiving better care under Trump’s leadership and that the VA is “reducing bureaucracy and improving efficiency.”

💣 But critics aren’t convinced.
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal called the letter “a five-alarm fire,” warning that Trump-era funding cuts and mass firings are “devastating VA healthcare.”

“These doctors are sounding the alarm at great personal risk,” Blumenthal said. “Their warnings must be taken seriously — before it’s too late.”

Veterans’ advocacy group IAVA backed the doctors, reminding Washington of America’s moral obligation:

“The VA is a sacred promise to those who served. Breaking that promise is breaking faith with our nation itself.”

💔 The Bottom Line:

“Cuts. Outsourcing. Silence. Three blades slicing into the heart of America’s veteran care.”
