Buzz Aldrin’s wife, Anca Faur, has passed away aged 66 – just two years after the couple tied the knot.
The former astronaut and Faur’s families announced the devastating news in a statement shared to Facebook on Wednesday. They revealed she died “peacefully” on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
“Dr. Anca Aldrin, wife of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, peacefully passed away last night with her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu, by her side,” her loved ones shared.
“Mrs. Aldrin, an accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, served as the treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC,” they added.
Aldrin remembered his late wife with a short tribute of his own.
“I am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life,” the NASA legend, 95, said. “She brought joy to everything we did together. I will miss her dearly.”
The Post has reached out to the Aldrin family’s reps for further comment.
Aldrin and Faur married during a small private ceremony in California on Jan. 20, 2023. The couple’s nuptials coincided with the famous astronaut’s 93rd birthday.
“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin tweeted at the time.
“We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” he added.
However, that wasn’t Aldrin’s first time getting hitched. The three-time spacewalker was married three times before he tied the knot with Faur.
Aldrin wed his first wife, Joan Archer, in 1954. The pair welcomed three children together, James, Janice, and Andrew, before divorcing in 1974.
He went on to marry his second wife, Beverly Van Zile, in 1975. Their union ended in divorce just three years later.
Just over a decade later, Aldrin found love once again and tied the knot with his third wife, Lois Driggs Cannon, in 1988. They remained together for 24 years before splitting in 2012.
Aldrin gained international fame for making three spacewalks throughout his historic eight-year career as an astronaut.
He served as the Lunar Module Eagle pilot for the momentous 1969 Apollo 11 mission, walking on the Moon for 19 minutes alongside Neil Armstrong.
Aldrin, who left NASA in 1971 before retiring from the Air Force one year later, is the only surviving astronaut of the three who took part in the famed Apollo 11 mission.
Armstrong passed away in August 2012 at the age of 82, while Michael Collins died in April 2021 at 90.
