In an epic display of Marine dedication, the Marine Corps’ top officer, Gen. Eric Smith, and top enlisted Marine, Sgt. Maj. Carlos Ruiz, stood in full dress blues under pouring rain to deliver the Corps’ 250th birthday message. True to Marine form, not a single drop seemed to faze them.
From Nassau to Iwo Jima to Fallujah, Gen. Smith reflected on the Corps’ legacy:
“Though weapons, platforms, and technology continue to evolve, our individual Marines’ grit, discipline, and resolve remain our decisive advantage.”
The 10-minute video, narrated by actor Jon Bernthal, blends action shots of Marines on land, sea, and air with tributes from veterans and Medal of Honor recipients like Cpl. Kyle Carpenter and Sgt. Dakota Meyer. Bernthal emphasized:
“For 250 years we’ve formed ranks and held the line. And we will in the next 250.”
The grand finale? Smith and Ruiz, soaked but undeterred, standing in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial as the Silent Drill Platoon marches, delivering heartfelt birthday wishes to the Corps.
This media celebration is part of a larger 250th anniversary rollout, including a Netflix documentary “Marines” debuting on Nov. 10 and live events like last month’s amphibious assault at Camp Pendleton.
💥 Peak Marine energy, unwavering tradition, and rain-soaked dedication — the Corps knows how to celebrate a milestone in style.
